| Vice President Al Gore | June 16, 2008 | Gore, in endorsing Obama, gave off a litany of reasons why he thinks people should vote for Obama, and for Democrats in general. He's left with the singular difficulty that half his reasons aren't reasons at all, as they have nothing to do with America's elected officials, particularly the President, and the rest are good reasons not to vote Democrat. For a full analysis of his reasons, see my column Elections Matter. | |
| Sen. Chuckie Schumer | August 4, 2007 | In the bruhaha over the firing of the 8 US Attorneys, Chuckie took liberties far beyond his authority as a Senator in issuing subpeonas and wasting the people's time investigating what was essentially a non-issue and conducting a witch hunt of AG Alberto Gonzales. You can read my complete thoughts on the subject at Very Small Rocks. | |
| Sen. John Edwards | July 17, 2007 | He went on a poverty tour to bring attention to poverty in this country, with a theme of rewarding hard work. Earth to John, Earth to John, come in, John! We call this a PAYCHECK! He also failed to comprehend that what he considers poverty is actually getting by quite nicely, if we administer a global test of the sort he and Sen. Kerry were so fond of during the '04 campaign. You can read my full opinion on the subject in my article, Poverty, Edwards Style. | |
| Sen. Chuckie Schumer | May 1, 2007 | Schumer wants to break up oil companies in an anti-trust case when there is a fiercely competative industry with more than enough companies to prevent any one from gaining a monopoly. | |
| Maryland State Legislature | January 17, 2006 | They passed legislation to force any corporation with more than 10,000 employees in the state to dedicate 8% of their payroll to healthcare. There's only one such corporation in the state: Wal-Mart. | |
| Sen. Chuckie Schumer | January 15, 2006 | Chuckie somehow managed to ask the same questions on Roe v. Wade several times, to the point where Chairman Specter was forced to instruct him to ask new questions, and somehow managed to remain surprised every time Judge Alito gave him substantially the same answer. See my article A Dearth of Common Sense for full details. | |
| Sen. Ted Kennedy | January 15, 2006 | During the Judicial Committee hearings concerning the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court, Teddy Kennedy refused to get off the Vangaurd recusal issue which had already been resolved to the satisfaction of every member of the committee. The American Bar Association later testified, though their opinion was known throughout the hearings, that they were satisfied that nothing unethical had been done, but Sen. Kennedy just wouldn't let it go, and adamently refused to get off the ethics issue and make his questioning relevant to the hearings. Mary Jo Kopecknie was unavaliable for comment. For my full opinion on the subject, see my article A Dearth of Common Sense. | |
| Rep. Nancy Pelosi | May 23, 2005 | Rep. Pelosi made broad accusations of wrongdoing against House Majority Leader Tom DeLay in the Travelgate scandal without first checking to make sure that her own closet was empty. It was not. Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, Rep. Pelosi. For all the details on her own travel improprieties, see my article DeLaying Tactics. | |
